Château La Croix de Gay 2024

Subtle reduction that fades with air, woody spice, plums, cherries; light palate, red-fruited, balanced; no overwhelming tannins, zesty acidity; medium-length finish. Built for early drinking.

This is a little muted and light, with blueberry fruit and toasted cherries. Spice and savoury notes with gentle acidity. The tannins are really great and this isn’t too dry, but the flavours and the soft fruit density haven’t quite come together yet.

Forward, black cherry filled, medium-bodied wine for early drinking pleasure with a finish leaning toward minty/herbal notes. Drink from 2027-2032. 86-88 pts

The nose is hard to grasp on this sample, but the palate, nicely fresh, unfurls a lovely texture and juicy fruit. Playful, slightly sweet red berries add a sappy touch and a gourmand persistence.
