Decanter

Vivid, vibrant purple colour in the glass. Gorgeously pure aromas, roses and sweet red cherries. Fragrant and appealing. Blackcurrant and cedar aromas with dried flowers too. Crisp and clean, juicy and so succulent. Lovely friendly chewy ripe strawberry and raspberry fruit with fine but present tannins and a long crushed stone and cool blue fruit finish – ultra refreshing. Concentrated and intensely fruited yet no heaviness. Has a real edge of refinement with a juicy core. Plenty to like here, and super accessible.

Elegant, creamy, soft, and supple, with layers of ripe, vibrant cherries and plums, this is already quite charming in your glass. The medium-bodied palate continues along the same line with its focus on soft, ripe fruit, spice, and a plummy, chocolatey finish. Drink from 2029-2050. 92-94 Pts

You are tasting here a La Pointe with a ton of luscious dark fruit here, baking spices, orange peel and iris flowers. 3.78 pH, harvest dates September 4 to 17. 30 hl/ha. 38 hl/ha on the replantings, and 15 hl/ha on the older vines that haven't yet been replanted, a positive sign for the future. Eric Monneret, director.

Such precision and brilliance in this bouquet, with notes of very ripe dark berries and floral nuances that bring freshness, along with a mineral, menthol touch. Dense on the attack, the wine follows a linear progression. It is muscular and offers compact tannins that champion power, while the acidity keeps their vigour in check. This La Pointe 2025 is, to me, a turning point for the estate. Of course, Eric Monneret and his team have been steering in this direction for some time, but in 2025 they are reaping a good part of their efforts. A delightful wine combining finesse, character and energy.

Vinum

Dark-fruited, with blueberries, blackberries and captivating floral notes, a subtle toastiness, cool fireplace aromas—an alluring bouquet; on the palate it is linear and focused, with crisp fruit; the tannins are abundant, silky and fine, beautifully interwoven with the fruit, and the oak is perfectly integrated; the finish is of excellent length, ending on red-fruit notes, with a saline touch and a piquant spiciness. The best La Pointe ever produced.

Description

Characteristics and Tasting Notes of Château La Pointe 2025

Tasting

Color
This wine reveals a deep ruby hue tending towards garnet, highlighted by beautiful clarity and delicate violet reflections in its youth.

Nose
Particularly charming, the aromatic bouquet opens with bright, pure fruit, dominated by cherry and plum, with subtle touches of raspberry. The whole is elegantly rounded out by floral notes of violet and fine spicy nuances.

Palate
The palate stands out with a creamy, soft texture of great suppleness. The medium-bodied structure is built on silky, finely polished tannins. The balance between alcohol and acidity is excellent, offering lovely freshness that leads into a flavorful, long finish marked by indulgent chocolatey notes.

Food and Wine Pairing
This vintage will pair wonderfully with roasted or grilled red meats, such as a fine rib steak or sirloin steak. It will also beautifully complement a rack of lamb, dark-fleshed poultry such as duck breast, as well as regional dishes celebrating mushrooms, truffle or reduced sauces.

Serving and Cellaring
To reveal its full complexity, Château La Pointe 2025 deserves decanting for about an hour in its early years. It is recommended to serve it at an ideal temperature of 15.5°C. With its beautiful structure, this wine boasts excellent aging potential and can be enjoyed until around 2050.

The Elegance and Expression of a Pomerol Wine

The Estate
Founded in 1868, Château La Pointe spans 26 hectares within the renowned Bordeaux region. Since 2007, the estate has belonged to SCE Château La Pointe, under the aegis of the Generali France group, with Eric Monneret at its helm. This vast vineyard is distinguished by the unusual triangular shape of its plots. Thanks to significant investments and modernized facilities, the estate has successfully reinvented itself to offer wines of great precision, combining the history of a historic estate with a contemporary vision of winegrowing.

The Vineyard
Located on the right bank, this exceptional Pomerol terroir rests on a mosaic of sandy-gravelly-clay soils. The vines are cultivated using agroecological methods, reflecting a deep respect for the environment. Meticulous mapping of the plots allows farming practices to be perfectly tailored to the specific characteristics of the land, thereby promoting optimal ripening of the grapes.

The Vintage
The year was marked by a severe drought that lasted until July. Fortunately, two saving rainfall events on August 20 and 29 helped ease the situation and save the harvest. Thanks to this decisive rainfall, the vines were able to recover just in time to produce grapes of exceptional quality despite low yields.

Winemaking and Aging
Alcohol content: 14°C.

Grape Varieties
88% Merlot and 12% Cabernet Franc.
