Decanter

Beautiful floral aromatics and rich, ripe expressive black bramble fruit on the nose. Supple and bright with a gorgeously welcome and charming expression, bright acidity, ripe fruit and silky tannins giving absolute charm straight away, the Cabernets playing their part towards the finish with more firm, tight straightness. Ends gravelly with liquorice and cola. Generous but really well controlled – full of fruit with mouthwatering acidity yet perfectly balanced. This will add a bit of weight over ageing but remains pure and focused. Very good and already quite approachable. Ends mentholated and long. 3.6pH. A yield of 23hl/ha. Ageing in 50% barrels (1/4 new, 1/4 second fill) plus 50% in stainless steel, wood and concrete vats. An interesting project to follow with drastic selection and reduction in. production taking place.

Vinum

Radiant fruit, the oak is barely noticeable, with blackberries, sour cherries and red currants; on the palate it is linear and focused, with fine-grained tannins and juicy fruit. The wine shows precision and energy, with a pleasantly long, spicy, red-fruit-driven finish.

The excellence of a great Haut-Médoc terroir

The estate

The Château La Tour Carnet is a historic estate in Bordeaux, with origins dating back to the 12th century. Classified as a Fourth Growth in 1855, this prestigious property has been managed since 2000 by Bernard Magrez. Under his leadership, the estate combines the preservation of its medieval architecture with technical modernization. A true hallmark of viticultural excellence, the château also stands out for its environmental commitment and its innovative research center dedicated to adapting grape varieties to climate challenges.

The vineyard

The estate covers 202 hectares in the heart of the Haut-Médoc appellation. The vines, averaging 25 years of age, benefit from a high planting density of between 8,000 and 10,000 vines per hectare. They thrive on a distinctive terroir composed of a clay-limestone subsoil topped with a generous layer of günzian gravel. Careful vineyard management ensures controlled yields of 23 hectolitres per hectare.

The vintage

The year 2025 was marked by highly favorable weather conditions for the growing cycle. Winter and spring were mild with regular rainfall, followed by a particularly dry and sunny summer season. This ideal climate allowed the grapes to reach excellent ripeness while ensuring a pure and authentic expression of the different terroirs.

Winemaking and ageing

Following a harvest spread from September 9 to October 6, the berries undergo strict optical sorting. Vatting is carried out by gravity using the innovative Cuvon system. Vinifications are conducted on a parcel-by-parcel basis with tailored precision and daily extractions. Ageing takes place 50% in barrels (one quarter new oak and one quarter once-used barrels), with the remainder aged in stainless steel, wooden, and cement vats.

Grape varieties

Château La Tour Carnet 2025 is a blend of 69% merlot, 28% cabernet sauvignon, 2% petit verdot, and 1% cabernet franc.
