Description

Characteristics and Tasting Notes for the Meursault 1er Cru "Clos des Perrières" 2023 Domaine Albert Grivault

Tasting

Colour
This white wine from France reveals a bright, luminous hue.

Nose
The aromatic bouquet reveals fine complexity, blending scents of apple, apricot and peach with buttery, vanilla and oaky notes, all underscored by a stony minerality.

Palate
On the palate, it offers a dense, unctuous texture supported by remarkable concentration. Flavours of ripe fruit intertwine with a distinctive mineral salinity, leading to a lingering, refined finish.

Food and Wine Pairing

This wine pairs beautifully with creamy or buttery seafood dishes, such as grilled lobster or langoustines. It also enhances poultry and veal in cream and mushroom sauces, delicate fish such as turbot, as well as characterful cheeses like Époisses or Roquefort.

Service and Storage

Endowed with exceptional ageing potential, this Meursault 1er Cru "Clos des Perrières" 2023 can be cellared for several decades, up to around 2063.

The Mineral Expression of a Great Meursault Wine

The Estate

The history of Domaine Albert Grivault began in 1879, when its founder, then just twenty-three years old, acquired a prestigious plot at the heart of Burgundy. Located in Meursault, this family estate has weathered the ages with resilience. Today, the fourth generation oversees this heritage. Claire Bardet leads the estate, supported by Henri Marc as technical director, while Michel Bardet continues to offer his invaluable guidance. The estate is distinguished by its respectful approach to terroir and its consistency in producing wines of great purity.

The Vineyard

This cru comes from a monopole of nearly one hectare within the Meursault appellation. Rising to 260 metres in altitude, this terroir enjoys an ideal south and south-east facing exposure, sheltering it from cold winds. The vines, averaging around forty years of age, thrive on soil that is particularly rich in limestone, also containing clay, silt and sand. The vineyard is cultivated according to sustainable practices, with exclusively manual harvesting to ensure a rigorous selection of grapes.

The Vintage

The year 2023 offered mild weather conditions that were favourable for producing white wines in the region, allowing the berries to reach optimal ripeness.

Winemaking and Aging

To craft this Meursault 1er Cru "Clos des Perrières" 2023, whole clusters are fermented in wooden vessels, with minimal use of lees stirring. Ageing then takes place in oak barrels, 20% of which are new, renewed on a five-year cycle to preserve the authenticity of the fruit and the mineral expression of the terroir.
