Description
Characteristics and tasting notes for the Chambertin-Clos de Bèze Grand Cru 2023 Domaine Henri Rebourseau
Tasting
Colour
The colour reveals a deep ruby red hue enhanced by violet highlights.
Nose
Beautifully complex, the nose exudes concentrated aromas of black cherry and berries, harmoniously blended with notes of exotic spices, incense and delicate floral touches.
Palate
Full-bodied and structured, the palate seduces with its silky texture and depth. The tannins reveal themselves velvety and highly elegant, leading into a lingering finish that extends the aromatic experience.
Food and wine pairing
This red wine pairs beautifully with characterful meats. The estate particularly recommends it with game, such as roasted venison or venison served with a rich grand veneur sauce. It will also enhance herb-crusted lamb or braised beef dishes.
Service and storage
For an optimal tasting experience, it is recommended to serve the Chambertin-Clos de Bèze Grand Cru 2023 at a temperature between 16 and 18°C, ideally in large, suitable glasses. With remarkable aging potential, this wine will begin to fully open up in around fifteen years and can be kept until approximately 2053.
The elegance and depth of a Burgundy wine
The estate
Located in the heart of the Côte de Nuits in Burgundy, Domaine Henri Rebourseau was formally founded in 1919 by the general of the same name, although the family's winemaking history dates back to 1782. Today, the estate is run by the Bouygues family, who became majority shareholders in 2018, working closely with Bénigne and Louis de Surrel, representatives of the seventh generation. This prestigious estate stands out for its commitment to sustainable viticulture, certified organic and biodynamic, aiming to express the quintessence of its terroirs through wines of great purity.
The vineyard
The Chambertin-Clos de Bèze terroir enjoys a privileged position to the north of the Gevrey-Chambertin appellation. Facing east on a gentle slope, the vines flourish on complex soils composed of red clay, limestone and stony fragments. The estate applies organic and biodynamic farming methods, with entirely manual harvesting allowing for a rigorous selection of the best bunches.
The vintage
2023 ranks among the hottest years on record in the region. However, this intense heat was perfectly balanced by rainfall representing double the annual average, as well as by a saving cloud cover. These unique climatic conditions helped avoid water stress, resulting in a generous harvest and berries of optimal ripeness.
Winemaking and aging
The making of the Chambertin-Clos de Bèze Grand Cru 2023 is based on an extended maceration of two to three weeks in small open vats, punctuated by punching down and pumping over. Fermentation is initiated by indigenous yeasts. After careful vertical pressing, the wine is transferred into barrels for an aging period of sixteen to twenty months in French oak barrels, of which around 30% are new, ensuring a subtle integration of the wood.
Grape variety
100% Pinot Noir.
