Description

Characteristics and Tasting Notes of the Meursault 1er Cru "Les Charmes Dessus" 2024 from Domaine Michel Bouzereau et Fils

Tasting Notes

Appearance
This wine reveals a beautiful bright colour, ranging from pale gold to light gold. In its youth, it may display subtle green highlights before evolving towards deeper golden hues over time.

Nose
The aromatic bouquet is rich and complex. It exudes generous aromas of yellow fruits such as peach, apricot and mirabelle plum, mingled with notes of candied citrus and ripe apple. Delicate touches of white flowers, fresh butter, hazelnut and pastry intertwine over a mineral, chalky backdrop.

Palate
On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, dense and endowed with a particularly silky texture. The balance is remarkable, thanks to a bright acidity that brings plenty of freshness. Fruity, buttery flavours come through, elevated by a long, persistent finish marked by beautiful chalky tension and noble bitterness.

Food and Wine Pairings
This cuvée pairs beautifully with refined dishes such as poultry in cream sauce, shellfish like spiny lobster, or noble fish such as turbot. It also goes very well with summer truffle risotto or a matured cheese such as Comté.

Serving and Cellaring
It is recommended to serve the Meursault 1er Cru "Les Charmes Dessus" 2024 at a temperature between 12 and 14°C. Decanting for thirty minutes to two hours before tasting is advised to release all of its aromas. Built for ageing, this great white wine can be cellared until around 2036.

The Elegance and Purity of a Great Meursault from Domaine Michel Bouzereau et Fils

The Estate
Located in the heart of Burgundy, Domaine Michel Bouzereau et Fils is an essential reference point in the Côte de Beaune. Although the family history spans seven generations, the estate truly came into being in 1971, when Michel Bouzereau established his own operation, becoming a pioneer of estate bottling. Today, his son Jean-Baptiste Bouzereau leads this approximately 12.5-hectare vineyard. Renowned for its sustainable viticulture and the precision of its wines, the estate shines through its great white wines, which combine purity, elegance and tension.

The Vineyard
The plot dedicated to this cuvée covers 0.51 hectares in the upper part of the prestigious Les Charmes climat, in Meursault. Ideally located between Les Combettes and Perrières, the vines grow on a magnesium-rich clay-limestone terroir, abundant in stones and perfectly drained. The vineyard is farmed sustainably, with no chemical herbicides used since 2005. The vines, some of which are over sixty years old, were planted in 1960, 1978 and 1997, encouraging deep rooting and naturally moderate yields.

Winemaking and Ageing
Following an entirely hand-harvested crop, the grapes undergo natural fermentation triggered by indigenous yeasts. The Meursault 1er Cru "Les Charmes Dessus" 2024 is then aged in oak barrels for 16 to 18 months. The proportion of new oak is carefully limited to 25%, allowing it to support the wine and add volume without ever masking the brightness of the fruit or the expression of its terroir.
