The estate
Founded in 1966 by Adolphe and Irma Ostertag with only 20 ares of vines in Epfig, Domaine Ostertag now spans 15 hectares in the Bas-Rhin. André Ostertag, a pioneer of biodynamics in Alsace as early as 1997, contributed to the classification of Muenchberg as a Grand Cru. Since 2015, his son Arthur has continued this visionary approach, championing the expression of each terroir. The estate is recognized with three stars in the Revue du Vin de France guide.
The vineyard
The Riesling "Le Berceau" 2022 comes from the lieu-dit Pflanzer in Epfig in Alsace. This balanced, clay-rich terroir features a distinctive soil composition: the upper section is characterized by decomposed white sandstone, quartz and heavy minerals on a sandy subsoil, while the lower section reveals clay and alluvial deposits. The name "Pflanzer" means nursery, reflecting the natural richness of this site.
Winemaking and aging
The Riesling "Le Berceau" 2022 is vinified in stainless steel tanks after pressing for around ten hours. Fermentation is carried out with indigenous yeasts, and malolactic fermentation is completed. Aging takes place on lees for twelve months, giving the wine its caressing texture and aromatic complexity.
Grape variety
100% Riesling.
