An expressive, fleshy Tempranillo from Ribera del Duero
The estate
Founded nearly 130 years ago in Pesquera de Duero, Bodegas Emilio Moro embodies the winemaking excellence of Castile and León. Now run by the third generation with the support of the fourth, this family estate cultivates Tempranillo on stony clay-limestone soils in Ribera del Duero. Recognized as one of the great names in Spanish wine, Emilio Moro combines centuries-old tradition with know-how handed down from generation to generation.
The vineyard
The Ribera del Duero vineyard from which this wine is made rests on clay-limestone soils strewn with stones, benefiting from a favorable south-west exposure. Vines aged 15 to 25 years bring complexity and depth to the wine, allowing an authentic expression of the terroir.
The vintage
The 2022 vintage in Castile and León benefited from favorable weather conditions. A mild spring accelerated vegetative growth, followed by a hot, dry summer through harvest. These conditions delivered exceptional concentration and ripeness in the grapes.
Winemaking and aging
Emilio Moro 2022 is vinified in temperature-controlled stainless-steel tanks. Malolactic fermentation takes place over 30 days in stainless-steel tanks. Aging is carried out in French and American oak barrels, giving this Spanish wine its structure and characteristic oak notes.
Grape variety
100% Tempranillo (tinto fino).
