Description
Tasting characteristics and serving advice for Corton Grand Cru "Clos de la Vigne au Saint" 2018 by Louis Latour
Tasting
Appearance
Deep color with garnet highlights, intense and luminous.
Nose
Complex bouquet combining blackberry, black cherry, blackcurrant, and mocha.
Palate
The palate reprises black cherry and mocha, lifted by a touch of licorice. A generous wine with silky tannins, carried by a very fresh finish.
Food and wine pairings
This grand cru pairs perfectly with game such as roast hare or truffled partridge. It also marries beautifully with duck à l’orange and elevates aged cheeses thanks to its structure and aromatic complexity.
Service
This wine is best enjoyed at 60–63°F (16–17°C).

The estate
Created in 1797 by Jean Latour in Beaune, the Louis Latour estate remains an independent family-owned property now run by the eleventh generation. Based in Burgundy, it is the largest estate of Grands Crus in the Côte d'Or, with prestigious plots such as Corton-Charlemagne and Chambertin. A pioneer in adopting modern techniques while preserving traditional methods, Louis Latour stands out for its exceptional family continuity spanning more than two centuries.
The vineyard
Clos de la Vigne au Saint enjoys a privileged position on the Corton hillside, with full southern exposure on outcrops of mother rock. The soils, rich in red marl and limestone, impart a distinctly Burgundian character to the wine. The vines, averaging 40 years of age, are farmed with controlled yields of 35 hectoliters per hectare and harvested by hand to preserve grape quality.
Winemaking and aging
Traditional vinification in open vats with full malolactic fermentation. Aging takes place for 10 to 12 months in French oak barrels from the Louis Latour cooperage, with 35% new oak and medium toast, allowing for harmonious wood integration and preservation of the terroir’s expression.
Grape variety
This grand cru is made exclusively from Pinot Noir.
