The wine shows a deep ruby-red colour, subtly evolving towards garnet.

Nose
Generous and expressive, the bouquet reveals seductive aromas of ripe red fruit, such as cherry and plum. These are enhanced by notes of peppery spice and a delicate touch of sweet oak, perfectly integrated.

Palate
Full-bodied and juicy, the palate captivates with its balance and richness. The structure is built on firm yet velvety tannins, offering a beautiful, fleshy density that extends into a wonderfully fresh finish.

Food and Wine Pairing

This structured red wine pairs wonderfully with roasted or braised meats, such as a shoulder of lamb confit with Mediterranean herbs, game in sauce, or traditional Greek dishes like moussaka. It also goes very well with mature hard cheeses.

Serving and Cellaring

The Elegance and Structure of a Great Red Wine from Macedonia

The Estate

Founded in 2006 by the oenologists Pavlos Argyropoulos, Andreas Pantos and Stelios Pyrpilis, Pieria Eratini has quickly established itself as an essential reference in Greece. Located in the Macedonia and Thrace region, this family-owned estate cultivates approximately 150 hectares of organically farmed vines. Still led by its founders, the estate stands out for an approach that combines respect for ancient traditions, at times inspired by Byzantine practices, with precise, contemporary winemaking. The result is distinctive cuvées that push the conventional boundaries of Greek wine.

The Vineyard

Located in Kolindros, in the heart of the great wine region of Macedonia, the vineyard thrives on the gentle slopes surrounding the monastery of Saint Athanassios. Planted at an altitude of between 400 and 450 metres, the vines benefit from an exceptional terroir at the crossroads of the cooling influences of Mount Olympus and the sea breezes of the Aegean Sea. The soils, composed of sand, clay and calcium carbonate, offer optimal drainage. The entire vineyard is managed in strict accordance with organic farming principles.

Vinification and Ageing

The making of Eyxes Eratines Wishes 2022 is based on a minimal-intervention philosophy aimed at preserving the soul of the wine. After long macerations to extract structure and aromas, the wine is carefully aged for twelve months in new oak barrels. To preserve all its density and depth, this cuvée is bottled without any prior filtration or cold stabilisation.
