The estate

Founded in 2016 in Meursault, Domaine Pierre Girardin is the work of Pierre-Vincent Girardin, the thirteenth generation in a line of winegrowers. This talented young winemaker produced his first vintage in 2017, at the age of 19. The estate spans 4.5 hectares in Côte de Beaune and benefits from long-term contracts on prestigious appellations such as Corton-Charlemagne, Bâtard-Montrachet and Montrachet. Pierre-Vincent favors a precise approach using indigenous yeasts and custom-made barrels to express the authenticity of each terroir.

The vineyard

This Vin de France comes from Savagnin vines planted in 1922 in Rotalier, in the Jura. The century-old vineyard enjoys a southwest-facing exposure at 300 meters above sea level, on a terroir of fine marls over decalcification clays. The semi-continental climate, with harsh winters and dry, hot summers, gives the grapes a distinctive ripeness. The vines are trained with high trellising and wide row spacing. The phenomenon of millerandage contributes to berry concentration.

Winemaking and aging

The grapes for Noyer Savagnin 2023 are hand-harvested as whole clusters. The wine is then aged for 12 months in entirely new 456-liter oak barrels, before continuing to mature for 8 months in stainless-steel tanks, thereby preserving its freshness while adding structure and complexity.

Grape variety

This Vin de France is 100% Savagnin, an emblematic Jura grape variety whose ripening is later than that of Chardonnay.
