Description
The elegance and precision of an age-worthy white wine from the Bairrada appellation
The estate
Founded in 1692, Taylor's remains one of the oldest and most prestigious Port houses, located in Portugal’s Douro region. This independent family-owned property is devoted exclusively to crafting Port using traditional methods, with terraced vineyards on the steep slopes of the Douro. Owned by the Fladgate Partnership family company, Taylor's stands out for its historic quintas (Vargellas, Terra Feita) and its oak cask aging techniques. The house produces exceptional Vintage Port cuvées and tawnies aged up to 50 years, embodying the excellence and authenticity of traditional Portuguese Port.
The vineyard
Quinta Colinas de São Lourenço stretches across the Beiras region, within the Bairrada DOC appellation. Owned by the Fladgate group, this estate benefits from an Atlantic climate protected by the Caramulo and Bussaco hills. The vines thrive on clay-limestone soils spread over gentle hills, enjoying an Atlantic climate tempered by the natural protection of the surrounding hills. Vineyard management within the Bairrada appellation confers remarkable concentration to the grapes.
Blend
This 2019 Principal Grande Reserva White by Taylor's is a blend of Chardonnay and Arinto.
