The elegance and freshness of a great Languedoc rosé by Roc d'Anglade
The estate
Founded in 1999 by Rémy and Martine Pédréno, the Roc d'Anglade estate stands out as a key player in the revival of winemaking in the Languedoc. This vineyard of around 9 hectares, farmed organically, is the result of a passionate reclamation of the historic Langlade terroir in France. By combining Rémy Pédréno’s Rhône expertise with a contemporary vision, Roc d'Anglade crafts distinctive cuvées, praised by critics for their precision and brilliance.
The vineyard
Located about a dozen kilometers from Nîmes, the vines producing this IGP Pays du Gard thrive on a unique terroir at the crossroads of Rhône and Mediterranean influences. The vines grow on stony soils composed of clay and silica, overlying limestone marl. Uncommon for the region, the vineyard benefits from predominantly north-facing exposures, complemented by some east- and southwest-facing plots. This atypical orientation, combined with organic farming practices and manual harvesting in small crates, ensures controlled yields and preserved freshness.
Winemaking and aging
The Roc d'Anglade Rosé 2024 is crafted according to gentle, natural winemaking principles. Whole clusters are pressed directly, without prior maceration, followed by cold settling. Alcoholic fermentation starts spontaneously thanks to indigenous yeasts in stainless steel tanks. The wine is then aged on its fine lees for six months in these same tanks, promoting the development of its aromatic complexity and texture.
Grape varieties
Grenache, Mourvèdre, Syrah.
