Description
The Durand: excellence
Created by collector and engineer Mark Taylor, The Durand has been developed and marketed by Wining Taylors, LLC (Atlanta) since 2007. The name pays tribute to sommelier Yves Durand, the inventor’s mentor. The company has specialized in a unique tool that has become a benchmark among sommeliers, wine merchants, and collectors for opening old vintages with fragile corks.
An essential corkscrew by The Durand
The Durand Corkscrew is a patented two‑part device that combines a worm and an Ah‑So–style two‑prong. The worm first goes through the cork to stabilize it, then the prongs slide between the cork and the glass; together they create a cross‑lock that allows for a slow, controlled extraction, preserving the integrity of old corks, often crumbly beyond 30 years. Celebrated for its reliability on mature wines, it protects the wine from falling debris from the cork.
