A white wine from IGP Méditerranée combining freshness and aromatic complexity
The estate
The Triennes estate was founded in the late 1980s by three enthusiasts.
Two Burgundian winemakers, Jacques Seysses, from Domaine Dujac, and Aubert de Villaine, from the iconic Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, joined forces with a Parisian friend, Michel Macaux, and began searching for terroirs in the Var capable of producing great wines that fully express the richness of this winegrowing region.
Their quest ended in late 1989 on an estate then known as “Le Logis de Nans”.
In honor of the Triennia, religious festivals celebrated every three years under the Roman Empire, and to echo this adventure driven by these three partners, the estate was renamed “Triennes”.
Drawing on their Burgundian experience, the three partners carried out major work to renew and maintain the vineyard (replanting, grafting over, massal selections) in order to produce refined wines reflecting the quality of their terroir..
The vineyard
The Domaine de Triennes vineyard benefits from an exceptional geographical location on the foothills of the Monts Aurélien, between 420 and 450 meters above sea level. This altitude provides a cool microclimate characterized by warm days and cool nights, promoting slow, gradual ripening of the grapes. The clay-limestone soils recall certain great terroirs of Burgundy and Bordeaux. The southern exposure and long growing season ensure perfectly ripe grapes while preserving beautiful freshness. The estate practices certified organic viticulture with grass cover on every other row, severe pruning of the vines, and hand harvesting. Les Auréliens Blanc is produced under the IGP Méditerranée.
Vinification and aging
Vinification of Les Auréliens Blanc 2019 is carried out using a combination of stainless-steel tanks, large oak vats and barrels. Malolactic fermentation is carried out selectively depending on the needs of the vintage. The wine is then aged on fine lees for six to seven months, with regular bâtonnage that enhances the texture and develops aromatic complexity. This aging method provides harmonious integration of the oak while preserving the wine’s fruity expression and vibrancy.
