Description
Characteristics and tasting notes for the Perlato del Bosco 2022 Tua Rita
Tasting Notes
Colour
The colour reveals a dense hue, oscillating between purple and ruby. Brilliant, it displays beautiful violet and magenta highlights.
Nose
The bouquet opens with delicate aromas of wild berries and baked earth, underscored by soft spicy notes. With aeration, it reveals a lovely fruity concentration (blackberry, black cherry, redcurrant, ripe plum) enriched with nuances of anise, pepper, tea leaves and a subtle touch of leather.
Palate
The attack is clean and precise, offering concentrated flavours of black berries supported by fine, elegant tannins. The mid-palate expresses a lovely minerality with ferrous accents. Boasting fine volume, this red wine stretches into a persistent finish, blending fruity, mineral notes with subtle hints of citrus zest.
Food and wine pairing
This Italian red wine pairs wonderfully with grilled or roasted red meats, lamb with Mediterranean herbs, or game such as wild boar or duck in sauce. It also perfectly accompanies pasta with ragù, dishes with Mediterranean accents (mushrooms, olives) as well as aged hard or blue cheeses.
Serving and storage
Ready to enjoy today, the Perlato del Bosco 2022 can be cellared until around 2032. For optimal tasting, it is recommended to serve it between 16 and 18°C, after aerating for 30 to 60 minutes, ideally in large red wine glasses.
Other characteristics
This wine has an alcohol content of 14%. Completely dry, its residual sugar level is virtually nil. It has a pH ranging between 3.43 and 3.46, along with a total acidity of 5.44 to 5.69 g/L, ensuring a fine balance.
The mineral and elegant expression of a red wine from Tuscany
The Estate
Founded in 1984 by Rita Tua and Virgilio Bisti, the Tua Rita estate is a true benchmark in Tuscany. Initially conceived as a modest two-hectare agricultural refuge, the vineyard now spans nearly 60 hectares. Still owned by Rita Tua, the estate is currently run by her daughter Simena, her son-in-law Stefano Frascolla, and their son Giovanni. Renowned for its Super Tuscan-style cuvées, this family-run estate favours an artisanal philosophy, relying on limited yields and uncompromising quality to express the full richness of its terroir.
The Vineyard
Located in the Val di Cornia, in Tuscany, the vineyard enjoys a privileged position between the Tyrrhenian Sea and the metalliferous hills. The vines, planted at high density on slopes rising from 100 to 380 metres in altitude, grow on a mosaic of soils composed of clay, silt, gravel and a high proportion of mineral elements (iron, zinc, manganese). Cultivated according to organic farming principles, this terroir benefits from a pronounced maritime influence, offering ideal thermal ranges for the ripening of the berries.
The Vintage
The year 2022 was marked by significant climatic variability across Europe, with episodes of heat and drought. In Tuscany, the growing season saw temperatures above seasonal averages, abundant sunshine and low rainfall. These conditions required careful management of water resources and foliage to preserve the freshness of the vines.
Winemaking and Aging
After rigorous manual selection and destemming on a sorting table, the berries undergo gentle crushing. Fermentation of the Perlato del Bosco 2022 takes place in traditional wooden conical vats, at controlled temperatures between 18 and 26°C. A maceration of 25 to 30 days is carried out, punctuated by pumping-overs and punch-downs. The wine is then transferred by gravity into French oak barrels (new and used) for an aging period of 18 to 20 months, during which spontaneous malolactic fermentation takes place.
