Description
Characteristics and Tasting Notes for the Meursault Village "Les Narvaux" 2022 Vincent Girardin
Tasting
Colour
A beautiful golden-yellow hue, enhanced by subtle green highlights typical of its youth, characterises this wine.
Nose
The aromatic bouquet opens with elegant notes of white flowers and fresh almond. It then reveals aromas of pear, hazelnut and sweet citrus oils, all underpinned by a pronounced minerality reminiscent of gunflint.
Palate
Full-bodied and elegant, the palate offers a silky texture and a medium to full body. It stands out for its lovely vibrancy and remarkable tension, extending into a long, saline finish.
Food and Wine Pairing
This white wine pairs wonderfully with delicate seafood such as grilled lobster or garlic butter prawns. It will also enhance freshwater fish in white sauce, poultry with cream and mushrooms, or Asian dishes such as sushi. For cheese, favour goat's cheese, blue cheese or pressed cheeses like Gruyère and Comté.
Service and Storage
For optimal enjoyment, this wine should be served between 12 and 14°C, having been opened around thirty minutes before serving. This Meursault Village "Les Narvaux" 2022 can be enjoyed in its youth, but it will reveal its full potential after a few years in the cellar, and can be drunk until around 2035.
Other Characteristics
This dry wine has a residual sugar level below 2 g/L. Its pH is around 3.27, ensuring excellent stability.
The Mineral Tension and Complexity of a White Wine from Meursault
The Estate
Founded in 1980 by Vincent Girardin from a few hectares of family vines, the House of Vincent Girardin is located in Meursault, in the heart of Burgundy, France. Having become an essential reference thanks to an innovative approach to high-quality négociant work, the company was sold in 2012 to Jean-Pierre Nié. Today, the historic team, led by winemaker Eric Germain, continues the estate's philosophy: environmentally respectful viticulture and minimal-intervention winemaking to allow the true essence of each terroir to shine through.
The Vineyard
The "Les Narvaux" vineyard enjoys a privileged position on the heights above the village of Meursault, with an east-facing exposure. The vines, around forty years old, thrive on a complex terroir. The lower part of the slope is composed of clay-limestone mixed with siliceous residues, while the middle of the slope reveals stony soils rich in limestone and chalk.
The Vintage
2022 was marked by particularly hot and dry weather conditions throughout the growing season. Despite this generous sunshine, the season unfolded calmly. The harvest was carried out early and meticulously to preserve all the freshness and natural acidity of the grapes in the face of these high summer temperatures.
Winemaking and Aging
After manual harvesting and rigorous sorting, the grapes undergo gentle pneumatic pressing. Alcoholic and malolactic fermentation occur naturally thanks to indigenous yeasts and bacteria in French oak barrels (15% new oak). The Meursault Village "Les Narvaux" 2022 is then aged on fine lees for 18 months, without any lees stirring. One month before bottling, which takes place according to the lunar calendar, the wines are blended in stainless steel tanks.
