An expressive, refreshing Corsican white from the IGP Île de Beauté
The estate
Created in 2005 by Yves and Sandrine Leccia, the Yves Leccia estate spans around fifteen hectares in Northern Corsica, between the lieux-dits “E Croce” and “Partinelone”. From a family of winegrowers, Yves Leccia runs this organically certified estate entirely by hand. The estate stands out for replanting traditional Corsican grape varieties and vinifying exclusively in stainless-steel tanks. Named “Winemaker of the Year in Corsica by the Guide Hachette 2021”, Yves Leccia recently chose to leave the Patrimonio appellation to assert his independence and his personal vision of the island’s terroir.
The vineyard
The YL cuvée comes from the lieu-dit Partinelone, the estate’s signature terroir. The vines grow on clay-limestone soil set on a schist base. This terroir, classified as IGP Île de Beauté, is farmed organically, with traditional soil work and organic amendments.
Vinification and aging
The YL Blanc 2023 is made using whole-cluster pressing. The must then undergoes cold settling at 8°C for 24 hours, followed by fining on the must. Alcoholic fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless-steel tanks at 18°C for around 15 to 20 days. No malolactic fermentation is carried out in order to preserve the wine’s freshness. Aging of this vin corse continues for 6 months in stainless-steel tanks.
Grape varieties
Vermentinu (60%) and biancu gentile (40%).
