Description

Tasting notes and characteristics of Zuccardi Q Chardonnay 2024

Tasting

Appearance
This wine reveals a bright pale gold robe, subtly streaked with light greenish reflections that bear witness to its vitality.

Nose
The aromatic bouquet is both complex and refined. It exudes scents of citrus and orchard fruits, blending green apple, pear and lemon zest with delicate touches of nectarine and white peach. Floral nuances reminiscent of acacia intertwine with a beautiful minerality, crowned by discreet toasted and vanilla notes.

Palate
The palate offers great freshness carried by a vibrant acidity and a particularly seductive mineral character. The structure proves perfectly balanced and elegant, stretching towards a long finish reminiscent of ripe fruits and subtle aromatic herbs.

Food and wine pairing

This cuvée will pair wonderfully with grilled seafood or fish in a cream sauce. It will also enhance light poultry, mushroom-based dishes as well as soft cheeses.

A high-altitude chardonnay with a pure expression of the Valle de Uco

The estate

Founded in 1963 by Alberto Zuccardi in the Mendoza region, this historic estate has established itself as a true benchmark in Argentina. The estate now spans 1,001 hectares and stands out for its pioneering commitment to large-scale biodynamic viticulture. Currently led by the third generation, with Sebastián Zuccardi as technical director and Mariana Zuccardi as general manager, the Zuccardi family business continues to uphold a philosophy where excellence prevails. Constant innovation and absolute respect for the Andean terroir remain the pillars of this world-renowned estate.

The vineyard

The grapes come from carefully selected plots within the Valle de Uco, more specifically in the Gualtallary and El Peral areas in Tupungato. Perched between 1,150 and 1,500 metres above sea level at the foot of the Frontal Cordillera, these vines grow in an arid and cool climate, marked by cold nights. The soils, highly diverse and with rugged relief, combine alluvial deposits from the Las Tunas river with abundant limestone formations, sands, gravels and stones.

The vintage

The 2024 year was characterised by mild and dry weather conditions. This clement climate favoured a slow and gradual ripening of the berries, allowing grapes to be harvested in impeccable sanitary condition, guaranteeing wines that combine freshness and elegance.

Vinification and ageing

Crafted under the guidance of Sebastián Zuccardi and head winemaker Laura Principiano, the Zuccardi Q Chardonnay 2024 benefits from direct pressing. Fermentation begins naturally thanks to indigenous yeasts. Half of the wine ferments and ages in used, untoasted 500-litre French oak barrels, while the remaining 50% evolves in concrete vats. In order to preserve all its natural tension, no malolactic fermentation is carried out.

Grape variety

This wine is exclusively made from chardonnay (100%).
