Description

Characteristics and Tasting Notes for the Meursault 1er Cru "Les Bouchères" Domaine 2022 by Bouchard Père & Fils

Tasting Notes

Appearance
This cuvée reveals a bright pale gold hue, highlighted by delicate green glints.

Nose
Rich and expressive, the bouquet reveals a lovely complexity, blending scents of white flowers, citrus fruit and pear with notes of fresh hazelnut, toasted brioche and dried fruit.

Palate
Full-bodied and harmonious, the palate seduces with its silky, satiny texture. Carried by a vibrant freshness, it lingers into an elegant, subtly saline finish.

Food and Wine Pairings

This white wine pairs beautifully with firm-fleshed fish, white meats in creamy sauces, and pan-seared foie gras. It also complements a board of well-matured cheeses, such as a young Comté or a Saint-Nectaire.

Serving and Cellaring

To fully appreciate the complexity of this wine, it is recommended to serve it at a temperature of between 12 and 14°C. It can be enjoyed now, but will continue to develop in the cellar and can be kept until around 2032.

The Expression of a Great Meursault Terroir by a Historic House

The Estate

Founded in 1731 as a wine merchant house, Bouchard Père & Fils is an institution in Burgundy. The house went on to establish its own vineyard estate in 1775. Rooted at the Château de Beaune, the property has endured through the centuries. Since late 2022, the estate has been part of the Artémis Domaines group. With a vineyard of around 60 hectares across the terroirs of the Côte de Beaune, this producer stands out for its environmental commitment.

The Vineyard

This cuvée comes from the Premier Cru climat "Les Bouchères", located in the commune of Meursault. The house cultivates a small 0.38-hectare plot nestled on a hillside, at an altitude of 260 metres. Facing east and south-east on a gentle slope, the vines thrive on marl-limestone soils that give the wine its distinctive minerality.

The Vintage

The year 2022 offered favourable weather conditions, allowing the grapes to reach optimal ripeness. This vintage stands out for its remarkable balance, combining a lovely aromatic richness with well-preserved acidity, ensuring freshness and tension.

Winemaking and Ageing

Following manual harvesting in small crates, the grapes undergo a slow, gentle pressing in two stages. The wine is then carefully aged for 9 to 10 months in French oak barrels, including a maximum of 15% new wood. It is subsequently refined for 3 to 4 months in stainless steel tanks to preserve its purity, before resting for a few weeks in wooden vats to perfect its final harmony.

Grape Variety

Chardonnay (100%).
