Silky and smooth on the palate, restrained black fruit with tightly woven tannic fuzz on the palate. Plenty of fruit power, the structure will take some time to soften. (RH)

The 2016 Beaune Grèves 1er Cru has tightly packed blackberry and raspberry fruit on the nose. The new oak is a little more evident than its peers and yet nicely controlled and defined. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin and well-judged acidity. The fruit profile appears to become blacker toward the final third, grippy with a touch of salinity enlivening the slightly tinny finish.
