Château Clarisse 2018

Blueberry and blackberry with some lavender. Medium to full body, lightly firm tannins and a fresh finish. Good tension for the appellation. Better after 2021.

Blackcurrant jam and green hedgerow leaves, but more on the herbal spectrum than the fruit spectrum. Quite bitter and hard. Has a kick. Hot. Itchy. Not comfortable with itself. (TC)

Estate of 10.5 ha on clay-limestone plateaus. Aged in 33% new barrels and 67% one- and two-wine barrels. Harvest lasted a long time, taking place between September 29 and October 22. Clarisse’s bouquet clearly reflects its terroir through chalky notes. It also reveals inviting fruity nuances. On the palate, the wine is fruity and racy from the very first attack. Its acidic structure lends pedigree and character and ideally supports the aromatic expression through to the finish. The latter also echoes the chalky aromas noted on the nose. A balanced wine with body and freshness.
