Château Corbin 2023

A top wine among the St-Emilion Crus Classés, offering pure cool mint and blueberry fruit aromas. Made from grapes picked between September 7 and 26, the wine shows verve and depth on the juicy palate. Subtle opulence with plenty of length and charm. Densimetric sorting paid dividends in removing unfit grapes. Gentle extraction enhances a sense of refined tannins. Barrel aging will further broaden the palate to make the wine truly special in this vintage.

The 2023 Corbin is supremely elegant and classy. Fine, silky tannins and lifted aromatics make a strong first impression. Everything here speaks to nuance. Crushed flowers, vibrant red cherry fruit, mint, white pepper and cedar all take shape in the glass. Corbin is not an obvious wine, but it is quite striking.

Flowers, herbs, licorice, espresso and red pit fruits show easily on the nose, and on the medium-bodied palate. You can enjoy this with ease on release, or age it for more complexity. Drink from 2026-2038.

Playful red-berry bouquet, dried lilac blossoms, sandalwood, and lingonberry juice. On the palate, juicy with a soft texture, supporting acidity, a tight-knit tannic framework, and a straight, focused body. In the concentrated medium finish, a basket of morello cherries, a delicate graphite note, and a floury astringency.

Medium-intensity velvety red, this has grip and lift across the palate, plenty of sage, some oak grilling, but it’s tasty, with sappy fruit and it feels elegant if highly charged, a good sleek Saint-Émilion signature without pushing too far. Annabelle Cruse owner.

Score: 93–95. Fresh and intense, the nose opens with deep aromas of black and red fruits, with a powdery touch like an old rose. The palate is all tenderness and charm, with a fresh, delicate framework. Like the dream of an elegant princess.

There’s a gentle juiciness to the mix of red and black cherry compote flavors, with light sandalwood and black threads through the finish. Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Drink now through 2031. 6,375 cases made, 715 cases imported.

Ripe-fruit nose with plums, stewed blueberries and licorice; on the palate, fleshy and round, with fine tannins coating the sweet fruit, well-balanced, fruity and with good length. A charming Corbin that will be enjoyable from an early age.
