Château de Chamirey : Mercurey 1er cru "Clos l'Évêque" 2021

The Clos l'Evêque is in the northern part of Mercurey; the domaine owns three plots here at the highest point of the appellation. The young vines here have delivered a ripe, effusive wine with aromas of black plum, earth, and smoke. The texture is dense and velvety, with a greater sense of richness than elsewhere in this cellar. This opulent fruit is well balanced by fresh acidity that draws the wine to a lingering finish.

Denser than Clos du Roi, without its tactile finesse but with a racy, sanguine core—complex and accomplished.
