Description
A White Vin de France Born of the Solera Method at Château des Tourettes
The estate
Taken over in 1997 by Maine and Jean-Marie Guffens-Heynen, Burgundian winemakers renowned for their Chardonnays, Château des Tourettes sits perched in the hills above Apt, at the foot of the Luberon. This estate embodies the southern extension of the expertise they acquired in Burgundy. The wines are marketed under the Vin de France designation, which allows freedom in the choice of grape varieties and winemaking methods. Still run today by the founding couple, the estate cultivates a singular identity, blending Burgundian rigour with the high-altitude terroir of Provence.
The vineyard
The Château des Tourettes vineyard is nestled in the hills above Apt, at the foot of the Luberon. This location explains the choice of the Vin de France designation, which gives the estate the freedom to choose its grape varieties and winemaking methods in order to craft cuvées with their own distinct identity, such as the Tinus Blanc Solera 1725.
The cuvée
Tinus Blanc Solera 1725 is produced using the traditional solera method, which involves gradually blending several successive vintages through partial rackings within a system of stacked barrels. Year after year, this process builds a cuvée whose complexity and consistency develop over time, without any single vintage being showcased.
