Decanter

Ripe red fruit and exotic spiced notes on the nose. Juicy, succulent and clean, this has great energy and such well integrated tannins so that they give the frame and structure but very lightly letting the raspberry and red cherry fruit speak as well as a soft wet stone and flint touches. Refined and elegant and really approachable too. I like this a lot. One to watch. 3.58pH. 70 IPT. 75% of grand vin. Ageing 40% new oak, 60% one-year-old barrels.

Licorice, espresso, black currants, cherries, tobacco, leafy herbs, and flowers create the aromatic profile. The medium-bodied palate is soft, supple, and loaded with chalky, red currants, spice, and mint, all of which come through in its lively finish. Drink from 2030-2055. 92-94 Pts

Bright, cheerful, good quality, full of fragrant florals, super enjoyable, one of the wines that will be ready within five to eight years rather than 10 to 15, anchoring through the mid palate. Yield 30.2 hl/ha. 40% new oak.

Yves Beck

Great finesse in the bouquet of du Tertre, with notes of mint and graphite, along with hints of licorice and black berries. Smooth on the attack, the wine shows a certain breadth. On the mid-palate, the tannins take over and bring volume and freshness, supported by the acidity. A fresh, elegant and savory wine that has not yet revealed its full potential, but has clearly laid down its markers!

Deep red color with purplish highlights. An intense, refined nose with ripe fruit aromas. A hint of vanilla appears when the glass is swirled. Delicate on the attack and flavorful on the mid-palate, the wine develops with a tender, restrained profile, with a medium finish. Blend: 65% Cabernet Sauvignon - 18% Merlot - 11% Cabernet Franc - 6% Petit Verdot. Alcohol content: 13%.

Vinum

A nose still shaped by oak, with ripe fruit, tobacco, smoky notes and plenty of spice; a creamy palate, polished tannins, a delicate core of fruit, the oak is present here too but not overpowering, well-balanced, fresh and with lots of salinity on the finish. A wine that will quickly provide plenty of drinking pleasure.

The elegance and balance of a Margaux signed Château du Tertre

The estate

Built in its current form in 1736 by the renowned glassmaker Pierre Mitchell, the Château du Tertre is a historic estate in Bordeaux. Classified as a Fifth Growth in 1855, this prestigious property extends over a 52-hectare vineyard. Today, the estate is managed by the Helfrich family, who took over operations in 2021. Under the direction of Cynthia Capelaere, the estate continues its pursuit of excellence within the Margaux wine region, relying on sustainable practices to enhance its exceptional terroir.

The vineyard

Located on one of the highest rises of the Margaux appellation, at around 24 meters above sea level in the commune of Arsac, the terroir benefits from excellent southern exposure. The 43 hectares under production rest on soils composed of Garonne gravel and glacial sands. This perfect natural drainage, combined with vines averaging around forty years old and planted at high density, allows for grapes of remarkable quality.

The vintage

The year was strongly influenced by scorching climatic conditions. Faced with these extreme weather conditions, the teams carried out rigorous work on soil and canopy management in order to preserve the full freshness of the grapes. Harvest then took place in optimal conditions between September 8 and 22.

Vinification and aging

Vinification takes place in stainless steel, concrete, and wooden vats. The team favors gentle extraction from a generous texture, with traditional pump-overs and a delicate maceration lasting around twenty days. The wine is then aged for 16 months in Bordeaux barrels, composed of 40% new oak and 60% once-used barrels.

Grape varieties

The blend of this Château du Tertre 2025 consists of 65% cabernet sauvignon, 18% merlot, 11% cabernet franc, and 6% petit verdot.
