This offers blackberry, currant and hints of meat on the nose. Full-bodied, with velvety tannins and a meat, berry and light vanilla character. Has a velvety texture, with pretty fruit. Best after 2011. 4,165 cases made.

Mid crimson with some development. Pretty hot and extracted on the nose. Sweet and rewarding even if a little jagged and lacklustre on the finish. (JR)

The 2005 Ferrière is a fruity, easy-going Margaux to drink now and over the next few years. Crushed flowers, sweet red berry fruit, dried herbs, iron and spice are all nicely lifted. Ferrière is a bit light, but it retains terrific freshness and has aged beautifully, even if it is not terribly complex. The tannins are a bit gritty, so I would not wait too long here, as that will only become more prominent over time.

Ready to drink, classically styled, with a focus on its bright red fruits and its earthy, cedar and tobacco leaf character, the wine is medium-bodied, crisp and lively, with a bite to the red fruits on the finish.

Deep purple, dense at the core. Berry-scented bouquet, red cherries, pink pepper, lovely spice, plum skins, with a perfumed character. Textured palate with ample extract, showing flesh and muscle, quite powerful, underscoring the tremendous potential. A distinctive Margaux combining class and power.

Deep purple, dense at the core. Berry-scented bouquet with red cherries, pink pepper, lovely spiciness, plum skins, and a perfumed impression. A structured palate with ample extract, showing flesh and muscle, quite powerful, underscoring its tremendous potential. A distinctive Margaux that wavers between class and power. 07: Concentrated, direct fruit; ripe berries intermingled with delicate honey notes from very ripe Merlot. On the palate, powerful with balanced astringency. A great wine that blends Grand Cru with characterful bourgeois notes.

Fresh, elegant, fragrant bouquet of black cherries, blueberries, and tobacco. Balanced, full, elegant palate with fine tannins, tightly knit structure, complex aromatics, and a long, fresh finish. 18/20 drink - 2034

This has supple, silky red fruits and gentle waves of tobacco, with an earthy finish. Ready to drink, plenty to enjoy. First bottle (during the tasting) was corked; retried from a second bottle at home.

Black color, dark, beautiful, deep. Fine, fruity and very aromatic nose. One of the finest ever seen in this cru. With swirling, it remains pure and extremely fruity. Rich from the attack, the wine unfolds dense yet caressing, broad, juicy, and very flavorful. Long, tasty finish that’s hard to spit out. A presentation totally different from the en primeur stage. The wine is much more seductive today.

90-92 Barrel sample. Dark, dry and tannic this wine currently offers little in the way of fruit. The tannins are firm, solidly based and only hinting at the fruit underneath. It's a tough wine at the moment, but the structure will certainly see it into a good maturity.
