Description
Characteristics and tasting notes of the Pouilly-Fuissé Village "Tête de Cuvée" 2024 from Château Fuissé
Tasting notes
Appearance
Beautifully limpid, this white wine displays a pale lemon hue, bright and radiant, enhanced by delicate green highlights.
Nose
Of great complexity, the bouquet opens with notes of fresh citrus such as lemon and grapefruit, intertwined with linden blossom. It then evolves towards aromas of honeysuckle and white peach, before revealing an elegant mineral framework, enriched with buttery and brioche touches, along with almond and hazelnut nuances.
Palate
Generous and perfectly balanced, the palate offers a beautiful textural density supported by mineral tension and refreshing acidity. The mouth reveals a harmonious buttery roundness, leading to a long and persistent finish with hints of peach, spices and minerality.
Food and wine pairings
This great white wine pairs wonderfully with delicate fish such as trout with beurre blanc, shellfish in sauce like lobster or langoustine, as well as refined white meats, poultry or veal. It also enhances dishes featuring fine vegetables such as asparagus or artichokes.
Serving and cellaring
To fully appreciate this wine, it is recommended to serve it at a temperature of around 11°C. Endowed with excellent potential, it can evolve in the cellar until approximately 2034.
The elegance and precision of a white Burgundy wine
The estate
Founded in 1862 by Claude Bulland, Château Fuissé is a true institution in Burgundy, located in the heart of the Mâconnais. This historic estate, whose foundations date back to the tenth century, oversees a 40-hectare vineyard. Today, the fifth generation, embodied by Antoine Vincent as technical director and his sister Bénédicte Vincent, carries on this family heritage. Recognised worldwide, the estate stands out for its rigorous plot-by-plot approach and its constant pursuit of the pure expression of terroirs, producing white wines of remarkable quality.
The vineyard
The grapes for this cuvée come from carefully selected plots within the Pouilly-Fuissé appellation, particularly on the south-east facing slopes of Mont de Pouilly. The vineyard, cultivated according to the principles of sustainable agriculture, thrives at altitudes ranging between 220 and 430 metres. The geological diversity is exceptional, with a predominance of clay-limestone soils and marls that give the Chardonnay all its complexity and typicity.
The vintage
The 2024 vintage is characterised by cool climatic conditions, offering a classic and promising balance. This vintage stands out for its controlled fruit maturity and a beautiful mineral tension, thereby fostering the expression of great freshness.
Winemaking and ageing
The creation of this wine relies on precision winemaking and a meticulous plot-by-plot approach. The ageing is divided to enhance the wine's profile: 60% of the blend matures in Burgundian oak barrels to bring complexity and a refined texture, while the remaining 40% ages in stainless steel tanks to preserve the freshness and purity of the fruit. A malolactic fermentation completes this balance.
