Description
Characteristics and tasting notes of the Rully 1er Cru "Rabourcé" 2022
Tasting
Colour
A beautiful pale golden-yellow hue, enhanced by subtle greenish highlights typical of its youth.
Nose
Remarkably deep, the aromatic bouquet opens with notes of white flowers such as acacia, hawthorn and honeysuckle. It is then enriched with hints of fresh citrus, lemon, white peach and verbena, all underscored by a delicate touch of honey and a minerality reminiscent of chalk and flint.
Palate
Energetic and voluptuous, the palate offers a round texture perfectly balanced by lively acidity and an elegant mineral tension. The expression of ripe fruit extends into a sophisticated finish, marked by refined bitterness and a lovely salinity.
Food and wine pairing
This white wine pairs wonderfully with foie gras, roasted poultry or white meats such as veal. It also enhances delicate fish like turbot or halibut in a creamy sauce, shellfish, as well as aged hard cheeses such as Comté or Beaufort. It can also be enjoyed on its own as an aperitif.
Service and storage
For an optimal tasting experience of this Rully 1er Cru "Rabourcé" 2022, it is recommended to serve it at a temperature between 12 and 14°C. With excellent aging potential, this wine can be cellared and will evolve favourably until around 2032.
Other characteristics
This wine has an alcohol content of 14%.

The estate
Founded in 1971 by Aubert de Villaine and his wife Pamela in Bouzeron, Domaine de Villaine is a leading name in Burgundy. Initially composed of eight hectares, the vineyard now spans around thirty hectares across several appellations. A pioneer in sustainable viticulture, the estate has been certified organic since 1997 and applies the principles of biodynamics. Currently led by Pierre de Benoist, the estate stands out for its philosophy of respect for terroir and its historic work in reviving local grape varieties.
The vineyard
The "Rabourcé" climat is located on the highest and warmest hill in the northern part of the Rully appellation. This 2.36-hectare plot benefits from an excellent south and southeast exposure. The vines, averaging 50 to 60 years old, thrive on shallow soils composed of clay and limestone, inherited from ancient marine origins. This distinctive terroir, cultivated using organic and biodynamic methods, encourages optimal ripening while preserving great freshness.
The vintage
2022 in France was marked by hot, dry weather conditions. Following an early flowering, the summer heat and drought allowed the grapes to reach an excellent level of ripeness. The return of cooler temperatures just before the harvest played a crucial role in preserving the berries' natural acidity, resulting in a perfectly accomplished growing cycle.
Winemaking and aging
The grapes are harvested by hand, followed by a rigorous sorting process. Vinification takes place naturally, with no technological intervention, relying on indigenous yeasts. Fermentation and aging, including malolactic fermentation, take place in large wooden foudres for 12 to 18 months. The wine then rests briefly in bottle for 1 to 4 months before release.
