The Expression of a Great Burgundy Terroir by Domaine Cordier Père et Fils

The Estate

Founded in 1945 in the heart of the Mâconnais in France, Domaine Cordier Père et Fils is a benchmark estate in Burgundy. Managed since 1987 by Christophe Cordier, a passionate and perfectionist winemaker, the estate now spans 31.5 hectares across several prestigious villages. The estate stands out for its environmental commitment, having achieved organic certification across the entire vineyard, alongside a biodynamic approach. The family's goal is to reveal the quintessence of each terroir through wines of remarkable precision and consistency.

The Vineyard

Hailing from the Pouilly-Fuissé appellation, this cuvée comes from the climat Les Vignes Blanches. This exceptional 0.24-hectare terroir is characterised by clay-limestone soils and white marl, benefiting from an east-facing exposure. The vines, 80 years old, are cultivated with rare rigour, deliberately limiting yields to encourage maximum concentration in the berries. Harvesting is carried out exclusively by hand.

Winemaking and Aging

The making of the Pouilly-Fuissé Village "Juliette la Grande" 2023 begins with a gentle pressing of whole grape clusters. The juices are then transferred into barrels by gravity for natural fermentation using indigenous yeasts. Aging takes place on total original lees, first for 12 months in 350-litre barrels, then a further 12 months in stainless steel tanks. Bottling is carried out by gravity, without fining and with only very light filtration.
