Description
Characteristics and tasting notes of the "Roussanne" 2024 Domaine du Tunnel
Tasting
Colour
The colour reveals a pale yellow hue with golden highlights, distinguished by its crystalline clarity and radiant brilliance.
Nose
Initially subtle with scents of almond and apricot blossom, the bouquet gains in complexity upon aeration. It then releases generous aromas of fresh mango and candied white fruits, harmoniously underscored by touches of violet, frangipane and delicate vanilla notes.
Palate
The palate seduces with its velvety texture and fullness. It reveals a lovely fruity concentration around pear and mango, while maintaining a perfect balance without any heaviness. The tasting extends into a lingering finish, marked by a mineral freshness and a particularly mouth-watering salinity.
Food and wine pairing
This wine is a delight to enjoy as an aperitif during a convivial moment. It also pairs wonderfully with seafood such as grilled fish or a platter of shellfish, as well as with aged goat cheeses.
Service and storage
For optimal enjoyment, it is recommended to serve the "Roussanne" 2024 at a temperature of 12°C. Approachable from its youth for its liveliness, this wine can also be cellared and enjoyed until around 2029.
Other characteristics
This dry white wine from France has an alcohol content of 13.5%.
The aromatic expression and minerality of a great white wine from Saint-Péray
The estate
Officially founded in 1996 by Stéphane and Sandrine Robert, Domaine du Tunnel quickly established itself as an essential reference in the northern Rhône Valley. Still led today by Stéphane Robert, the Ardèche estate takes its name from a former stone railway tunnel dating from the early 20th century, majestically restored into an aging cellar. With a vineyard of around a dozen hectares, the estate stands out for its artisanal approach and demanding manual work on steep hillsides, producing cuvées that combine concentration with great finesse.
The vineyard
The grapes come from plots located within the Saint-Péray appellation, notably within the historic lieux-dits of Les Grandes Blaches and Barras. The vines flourish on gently sloping hillsides and terraces made up of deeply granitic soils. This unique terroir, swept by the mistral and benefiting from a microclimate with both northern and southern influences, is farmed according to the principles of sustainable agriculture certified High Environmental Value. Work here is carried out exclusively by hand, sometimes assisted by animal traction or the use of a winch on the steepest sections.
Winemaking and aging
Following manual harvesting accompanied by meticulous sorting in the vineyard, the grapes are transported to the winery. Vinification of the "Roussanne" 2024 begins in stainless steel tanks in order to preserve all the purity and aromatic freshness of the fruit until the onset of alcoholic fermentation. The wine is then aged for ten months in barrels, giving it its complexity and subtle brioche-like nuances.
