Description

Characteristics and Tasting Notes for the Latricières-Chambertin Grand Cru 2022 Domaine Faiveley

Tasting

Colour
The colour reveals a rich, deep ruby red, ranging from bright glints to a black cherry hue.

Nose
Subtle and complex, the nose opens with spice and roasted notes. It then reveals a fruity bouquet evoking blackberry, raspberry and blood orange, harmoniously rounded out by touches of rose petals, forest floor and a lovely minerality.

Palate
The attack is rich and generous, supported by ripe, supple and perfectly integrated tannins. Endowed with an elegant structure and beautiful energy, this wine stands out for its citrus freshness, which carries the tasting through to a long, intensely mineral finish.

Food and Wine Pairing

This characterful wine pairs beautifully with feathered game such as wild duck or pheasant, roasted or in sauce. It also enhances structured red meats such as braised lamb or rib of beef, as well as dishes featuring wild mushrooms. When it comes to cheese, it goes wonderfully with soft, creamy cheeses such as Époisses or Cîteaux.

Service and Storage

For an optimal tasting experience of this Latricières-Chambertin Grand Cru 2022, it is recommended to serve it at a temperature of between 12 and 14°C in its youth, and between 14 and 16°C after a few years. Built to age, this wine will reveal its full potential and can be enjoyed until around 2047, or even beyond.

The Elegance and Minerality of a Burgundy Grand Cru by Domaine Faiveley

The Estate

Founded in 1825 in Nuits-Saint-Georges, Domaine Faiveley is a historic and essential figure in Burgundy. At the helm of the estate today, Erwan Faiveley and his sister Eve represent the seventh family generation. Overseeing a fragmented vineyard of more than 120 hectares spread across the region's most renowned terroirs, the estate skilfully combines ancestral heritage with a contemporary vision. Strongly committed to preserving its ecosystems, the estate has begun a conversion to organic farming, affirming its commitment to producing wines of great purity.

The Vineyard

This Latricières-Chambertin comes from a 1.20-hectare plot benefiting from an asymmetrical east-west exposure. This unique terroir is characterised by stony, shallow soils, rich in limestone and covered with a thin layer of silica, giving the grapes a remarkable balance between ripeness and tension.

Winemaking and Aging

The making of the Latricières-Chambertin Grand Cru 2022 involves extended macerations to extract the very essence of the grapes. The wine is then carefully aged in French oak barrels within the estate's historic cellars, developing its complexity and character over time.
