Appearance
This wine reveals a magnificent ruby red colour, both dark and deep, crossed by a beautiful radiant brilliance typical of its youth.

Nose
Displaying great complexity, the aromatic bouquet opens with intense aromas of black fruits such as blackcurrant, blackberry and blueberry, harmoniously blended with more subtle hints of crunchy strawberry and raspberry. Aeration reveals delicate floral notes of violet, sweet spices such as cinnamon and black pepper, as well as light smoky, toasted and cocoa nuances.

Palate
The attack is smooth and refined, introducing a silky texture carried by tannins of great finesse. The palate rediscovers the fruity concentration perceived on the nose, perfectly balanced by a vibrant acidity. The finish, of remarkable length, extends over a delicate mineral salinity.

Food and wine pairings

This cuvée pairs wonderfully with wild poultry such as roast pheasant or duck confit, as well as with braised red meats. Accompaniments with woodland flavours, such as porcini or morel mushrooms, will elevate this wine, as will aged hard cheeses.

The estate

Founded in 1825 by Pierre Faiveley, Domaine Faiveley stands as a true institution in Burgundy. Still anchored on its historic lands, the house today watches over an exceptional vineyard spread across the most prestigious terroirs of the region. Currently led by the seventh generation, embodied by Erwan and Ève Faiveley, the estate has taken a major turn since the 2000s. Now favouring finesse and pure expression of the terroir, the domaine also stands out for its strong commitment to environmentally friendly viticulture.

The vineyard

This wine comes from a parcel located in the "Les Damodes" climat, in the north of the Nuits-Saint-Georges appellation. This cool terroir benefits from a gentle east-facing slope. The vines thrive on soils composed of hard limestone and marl.

The vintage

The 2023 year stood out for its particularly mild weather conditions, favouring an abundant flowering. This generosity of nature required meticulous work in the vineyards to ensure optimal ripening of the berries.

Winemaking and aging

After hand-harvesting and rigorous sorting, fermentation begins thanks to indigenous yeasts, accompanied by moderate punching down for a gentle extraction. The wine is then aged in French oak barrels before continuing its refinement in vat until bottling.
