Description

Characteristics and tasting tips for the Meursault Village "Les Grands Charrons" 2024 by Domaine Michel Bouzereau et Fils

Tasting

Appearance

The wine displays a lovely pale yellow hue, lit up by brilliant golden highlights.

Nose

The bouquet is complex and charming, blending orchard fruit aromas such as apple and pear with floral scents of honeysuckle and vine blossom. With aeration, indulgent notes of fresh butter, brioche, almond and roasted hazelnut intertwine with subtle hints of chalk, acacia honey and grapefruit zest.

Palate

The attack is both ample and unctuous, before giving way to a superb mineral tension. The fluid, savoury texture is perfectly balanced by refreshing acidity. The remarkably long finish unfolds on a lovely salinity, accompanied by noble bitterness and a delicate touch of spice.

Food and wine pairings

This great white wine pairs beautifully with refined dishes such as premium seafood, lobster or turbot. It will also elevate white meats in sauce, such as poularde in cream sauce or veal sweetbreads with morels, as well as bolder dishes like asparagus with mousseline sauce or fish gravlax.

Serving and cellaring

For optimal enjoyment, serve the Meursault Village "Les Grands Charrons" 2024 at a temperature between 11 and 14°C. Although it can be enjoyed in its youth after a short rest in the cellar, this wine has excellent ageing potential and will continue to develop favourably until around 2039.

The purity and mineral tension of a white wine from Meursault

The estate

Based in the heart of Burgundy, in Meursault, Domaine Michel Bouzereau et Fils is the product of a family heritage spanning seven generations. Although the family has been growing vines for a long time, the estate's current structure truly took shape in 1999, when it was handed down to Jean-Baptiste Bouzereau, the current owner. At the helm of a vineyard of around twelve hectares, he upholds a demanding approach inspired by biodynamics. Renowned for its consistency and the precision of its winemaking, the estate produces pure, elegant wines that are true to their terroirs.

The vineyard

This cuvée comes from a 1.5-hectare plot ideally located mid-slope within the Meursault appellation. Facing east, this terroir benefits from varied clay-limestone soils, stonier at the top and deeper and more alluvial at the foot of the slope. The vineyard stands out for its old vines, planted between 1951 and 1992, which give the grapes natural concentration and great complexity. The grapes are harvested by hand.

Winemaking and ageing

The Meursault Village "Les Grands Charrons" 2024 is vinified traditionally, with slow fermentations in oak barrels triggered by indigenous yeasts. The wine is then aged for around a year in barrels, with a moderate proportion of new oak amounting to 20%. Finally, it rests in vats for a further two to four months to refine its balance and mineral tension before bottling.
