The estate
Founded in 1797 by Jean Latour, the Louis Latour House remains an independent, family-owned company, now run by Louis-Fabrice Latour, representing the eleventh generation. Based in Aloxe-Corton, the estate spans 48 hectares, including 27 hectares of Grand Cru, making it the largest Grands Crus estate in Bourgogne. Its exceptional heritage includes prestigious parcels in Corton-Charlemagne, Chambertin, and Romanée-Saint-Vivant. The House stands out for its innovative vision, notably during the phylloxera crisis, when it replanted Chardonnay on the Corton hillside, creating the famous Corton-Charlemagne.
The vineyard
The climat "Les Charmes" is among the 24 Premiers Crus of Chambolle-Musigny, a village in the Côte de Nuits with 150 hectares of vines. Its name refers to plateaus with sparse vegetation or to the presence of hornbeams, trees also known as charmilles. The vines, averaging 35 years of age, are grown on clay-limestone soils. Hand-harvested, they deliver a controlled yield of 35 hl/ha.
Winemaking and aging
The Chambolle-Musigny 1er cru "Les Charmes" 2022 is vinified traditionally in open vats, with full malolactic fermentation. Aging takes place for 10 to 12 months in French oak barrels from the Louis Latour cooperage, with 40% new oak and a medium toast.
Grape variety
This Bourgogne wine is 100% Pinot Noir
