The estate

Founded in 1797 by Jean Latour, the Louis Latour House remains a family-owned, independent estate in Burgundy, now run by Louis-Fabrice Latour, the eleventh generation. Based in Aloxe-Corton, it owns Burgundy’s largest Grands Crus estate, with 48 hectares of vines, including 27 hectares classified as Grand Cru. Its exceptional heritage extends across the Côte de Beaune and the Côte de Nuits. True to Burgundian tradition, the House favors a classic style.

The vineyard

The Clos de la Roche is located in a small enclave between Morey-Saint-Denis and Gevrey-Chambertin, in the heart of the Côte de Nuits. Its name comes from a nearby quarry where the rocky strata were once worked. The vines, averaging 40 years of age, are rooted in a clay-limestone and chalky subsoil. The harvest is carried out by hand.

Vinification and aging

The Clos de la Roche Grand Cru 2016 is vinified traditionally in open vats, with full malolactic fermentation. Aging takes place over 10 to 12 months in 100% new French oak barrels from the Louis Latour cooperage, with a medium toast.

Grape variety

This red wine from Burgundy is 100% Pinot Noir.
