An elegant and robust Nuits-Saint-Georges from the Côte de Nuits
The estate
Founded in 1797 in Aloxe-Corton, Maison Louis Latour has remained an independent, family-owned house for eleven generations. Under the leadership of Florent Latour, with Eléonore Latour set to succeed him, it farms around 120 hectares of vines in Burgundy, including 67 to 70 hectares of Grands Crus, making it the largest owner of Grand Cru plots in the region. A pioneer in planting Chardonnay on Corton-Charlemagne after phylloxera, Maison Louis Latour combines its status as an exceptional wine estate with that of a renowned Burgundy négociant house.
The vineyard
The Nuits-Saint-Georges vineyard lies at the southern tip of the Côte de Nuits, to which it gave its name. The vines, with an average age of 30 years, are planted on clay-limestone subsoil. Carefully tended, the vineyard is harvested by hand, with an average yield of 40 hectolitres per hectare. This commune produces almost exclusively robust, elegant red wines that need a few years of ageing to reveal the finest expressions of Pinot Noir.
Winemaking and ageing
The Nuits-Saint-Georges Village 2023 is vinified using a traditional method in open vats, with full malolactic fermentation. It is then aged for 10 to 12 months in French oak barrels from the Louis Latour cooperage, 20% of which are new with a medium toast.
Grape variety
This Burgundy wine is made from Pinot Noir.
