M. Chapoutier : Bila-Haut Chrysopée 2022

A refined 90/10 blend of Grenache Gris and Grenache Blanc, the grapes for the 2022 Collioure Chrysopée Blanc come from a schist terroir. The wine was aged six months in big oak barrels, but there is no sign of oak imprint here. Stone fruit, pear, candied lemon, verbena, lemon balm, and a hint of acacia honey are underlined by great freshness, lots of extract, and a long, spicy finish. All together crisp and nuanced, a beautiful volume on the palate, this nuanced white has great potential. It’s very elegant, especially in this hot and dry vintage. Drink 2025-2035.
