Decanter

Fruity and expressive, with resinous, balsamic touches from the oak – pine needles and cassis. Full-bodied, exceptionally smooth and fulsome on the mid-palate. Great concentration and a big packet of ripe tannins on the finish. Soft and rich, but very good. Hard to judge ageing potential here, it might surprise.

Cask sample. Attractive nose of crushed violets and rose petals. The palate is dense and intense, rich and ripe, with real crunch to the fruit. The acidity is more marked here than in La Mordorée, yet time is needed to tame those tightly wound, firm tannins that currently dominate the mid-palate. (AC)

Vinous

The 2022 Côte-Rôtie Neve has come together nicely, easily outperforming the La Mordorée from the same vintage. Prominent licorice, pencil shaving, black plum and fleshy hints rise up from the glass. Touching the palate with elevated flavor concentration, the medium- to full-bodied 2022 is an exquisite Neve, always maintaining an elegant overall profile. A long, focused finish wraps it up.

There’s a glossy, seductive feel to the violet and blackberry paste notes, underscored by salty umami and singed lard elements that bring a savory dimension to the forefront. Dense and full-bodied, wafting with sandalwood and mesquite smoke across the perfumed, elegant finish. Best from 2026 through 2035. 2 cases imported.
