Description
Characteristics and tasting notes of the Gevrey-Chambertin Village "Jeunes Rois" 2023 by Régis Bouvier
Tasting
Colour
This French red wine reveals a brilliant ruby hue that will evolve towards garnet or dark cherry nuances over the years.
Nose
Particularly expressive, the bouquet reveals intense aromas of ripe red and black berries, evolving towards a beautiful aromatic depth.
Palate
The tasting offers a delicate texture supported by velvety tannins and a solid structure. Both fleshy, rich and powerful, this wine captivates with its abundance of fruit and lovely acidity, ensuring a perfect balance without heaviness.
Food and wine pairing
This wine pairs wonderfully with red meats such as roasted prime rib of beef, braised meats in sauce, or feathered and furred game, such as duck or goose. On the cheese side, it enhances characterful washed-rind soft cheeses, such as Époisses, Cîteaux or Ami du Chambertin.
Service and storage
To fully appreciate the Gevrey-Chambertin Village "Jeunes Rois" 2023, it is recommended to serve it at a temperature between 15 and 16°C. Although it is already very pleasant to drink in its youth thanks to its bright fruitiness, it has a structure built for long cellar ageing.

The estate
Founded in 1910 by Henri Bouvier, the family estate is located in Marsannay-la-Côte, north of the Côte de Nuits in Burgundy. Today led by Bernard Bouvier, representing the third generation, the estate reached a turning point in 2019 by incorporating the vines of his brother Régis Bouvier, whose estate was established in 1981. This union under the René Bouvier label perpetuates an environmentally respectful philosophy with organic farming certification. Remarkably, the estate excels in producing all three wine colours, showcasing the richness of its terroirs.
The vineyard
Spanning around 16 hectares, the vineyard benefits from a privileged geographical location. The cuvée comes from the Jeunes Rois lieu-dit, a renowned 4.32-hectare plot located within the communal appellation of Gevrey-Chambertin. The vines thrive on slopes with varied limestone soils, benefiting from optimal south-east exposure for grape ripening. The entire vineyard is cultivated according to the principles of organic farming, in deep respect for the environment.
The vintage
The year 2023 stands out as one of the warmest ever recorded in the region, surpassing the temperatures of the previous year. This weather allowed for a generous harvest, offering consistent yields and remarkable quality throughout the vineyard.
Winemaking and ageing
The making of the Gevrey-Chambertin Village "Jeunes Rois" 2023 relies on modern, fruit-respectful methods. Under the guidance of Bernard Bouvier, the estate favours fermentations partially incorporating whole bunches, allowing the full complexity and finesse of the terroir to be extracted.
Grape variety
This wine is made from 100% Pinot Noir.
