La RVF

Roc d'Anglade 2022 is a spicy caress, with its powdery grain, very fine structure, sapidity, and the length we love. A beautiful wine in an energetic register, that remains juicy, with a floral touch adding an extra dose of charm.

Description

Characteristics and tasting notes of Roc d'Anglade 2022

Tasting

Colour
A clear, brilliant ruby colour, enhanced by deep violet hues.

Nose
Intense and complex, the nose opens with aromas of crushed strawberries, blackcurrant and blueberry, heightened by delicate touches of violet and cinnamon. With aeration, subtle spicy, peppery notes emerge, along with nuances of garrigue, leather and hints of game.

Palate
Generous and sensual, the palate seduces with its silky texture and remarkably fine tannins. Perfectly balanced thanks to a lovely freshness, it offers a generous expression of juicy red and black fruits, supported by a saline mineral backbone. The finish is remarkably long.

Food and wine pairing

This red wine pairs wonderfully with grilled red meats such as a beef rib, or more elaborate dishes like a beef Wellington roast. It also beautifully complements lamb with Provençal herbs, game such as duck with figs or venison, as well as aged cow's milk cheeses.

Service and storage

Already approachable, this Roc d'Anglade 2022 will continue to evolve and can be enjoyed until around 2031.

Other characteristics

This wine stands out with a moderate alcohol level of 12.5%, bringing great drinkability and freshness to the tasting experience.

The elegance and freshness of a red wine from the Languedoc

The estate

Founded in 1999, Roc d'Anglade is a leading estate located in the historic village of Langlade, at the heart of the Languedoc. Created by Rémy Pédréno, a passionate winemaker with experience in the Rhône Valley, the estate quickly established itself as a benchmark in the south of France. Today, the estate is jointly run by Rémy and Martine Pédréno, alongside winemaker Jeremy Stevenson. Driven by a constant pursuit of finesse and freshness, the team cultivates its vines using organic farming methods, producing authentic wines that fully express the unique character of their terroir.

The vineyard

Produced under the IGP Pays du Gard appellation, this wine comes from a vineyard of around 9 to 10 hectares located west of Nîmes. The vines, aged 25 to 30 years, thrive on a mosaic of marl-limestone soils covered with clay, silica and pebbles that release heat back at night. Predominantly north-facing to preserve the freshness of the berries, the vineyard has been certified organic since 2011. The soils are worked mechanically with natural grass cover, and the harvest is carried out entirely by hand.

The vintage

The year 2022 in the Languedoc was marked by typically Mediterranean weather conditions. The growing season saw warmer-than-average temperatures, accompanied by variable rainfall throughout the season.

Winemaking and aging

The winemaking of Roc d'Anglade 2022 is carried out with a high proportion of whole bunches (80 to 100%) and indigenous yeasts. Maceration lasts 15 to 18 days in open vats, without mechanical extraction, in order to preserve the delicacy of the fruit. After gravity-fed transfer, the wine is aged for 18 months in large wooden vessels (foudres, muids and half-muids) on fine lees, with regular lees stirring. A very light bentonite filtration precedes bottling.

Grape varieties

  • Carignan (55%)
  • Mourvèdre (25%)
  • Grenache (20%)

This blend is complemented by small proportions of Syrah and Cinsault.
