Description
Characteristics and tasting tips for Years in Cask 30 Years Old Borderies 1993 by Bache-Gabrielsen
Tasting
Appearance
This spirit reveals a deep amber hue with golden and coppery highlights. Its colour is entirely natural, a testament to long ageing without artifice, and it shows remarkable clarity and brilliance.
Nose
The bouquet is distinguished by great delicacy, led by beautifully rounded aromas of fresh flowers typical of its cru. This floral vibrancy is elegantly balanced by indulgent notes of crushed almonds and apricot.
Palate
The attack reveals a rich, silky and deeply velvety texture. The palate unfolds an ample structure in which generous flavours of hazelnut, fresh vanilla and dried fruit intertwine, crowned by evolved nuances of old leather. The finish is long and harmonious, extending the floral and indulgent impressions.
Pairings and tasting occasions
Crafted for moments of contemplation, this spirit is ideally enjoyed as a digestif at the end of a meal. To appreciate its full aromatic complexity, it is highly recommended to taste it neat, served at room temperature in a tulip glass, taking the time to let its aromas slowly unfold.
Mixology
As an exceptional and extremely rare spirit, it does not lend itself to mixology. We recommend savouring it neat, without any embellishment, to respect the integrity of its long ageing.
A Borderies Cognac of rare elegance by Bache-Gabrielsen
Maison Bache-Gabrielsen: The Franco-Norwegian alliance
Founded in Cognac in 1905 by the young Norwegian Thomas Bache-Gabrielsen and his fellow countryman Peter Rustad, Maison Bache-Gabrielsen embodies the successful meeting of Scandinavian culture and the savoir-faire of the Charente region. Now led by Hervé Bache-Gabrielsen, the fourth generation of the family, this independent family business stands out for its historic foothold in the Nordic markets and its ability to reconcile tradition and innovation. Supported by its cellar master Jean-Philippe Bergier, the house showcases the diversity of its terroirs through a network of nearly 150 partner growers. A pioneer in its commitments, Bache-Gabrielsen is also recognised for its social responsibility, reflected in its status as a mission-driven company and its B Corp certification.
The Years in Cask 30 Years Old Borderies 1993 vintage: A treasure of the terroir
Years in Cask 30 Years Old Borderies 1993 is an emblematic cuvée that captures the very essence of its terroir. Made exclusively from Ugni Blanc, this single estate Cognac comes from the vines of the late Mr Garraud, a grower and friend of the house based in Chérac-Borderies. Hailed as a fantastic vintage, 1993 was marked by an extremely cold, dry winter followed by a mild, rainy spring, providing ideal conditions for the grapes to ripen.
This spirit owes its character to an exceptional 30 years of ageing in Limousin oak casks. Remarkably, the entire maturation took place in the grower's own cellar, reflecting a uniquely trusting collaboration. Bottled in 2025, this edition is strictly limited to just 403 bottles, making it a true collector's item. Presented in a "Tradition" gift box or a white case, this naturally coloured vintage is the result of a patient and careful reduction, delivering a pure and authentic expression of the Borderies.
