Nose
The nose opens with a vibrant blend of tropical and stone fruits. It evolves towards polished old oak and dark chocolate, lifted by notes of cinnamon. The official description adds powerful citrus aromas, comforting woody spices and rich malty notes.

Palate
On the palate, grilled pineapple mingles with nutmeg and clove, with a subtle hint of smoked wood. An aromatic leaf note then develops, accompanied by aniseed and rich ginger. The finish is rich and complex, with a slightly woody and smoky character.

Mixology

The Macallan, a traditional Scotch whisky in the heart of Speyside

Founded in 1824 by Alexander Reid, a farmer and schoolteacher, the Macallan distillery is located on the Easter Elchies estate, near Craigellachie, in Speyside, on the banks of the Spey. This Scotch whisky stands out for its maturation in sherry-seasoned oak casks and for its colour, which is claimed to be 100% natural. Its "Curiously Small Stills", among the smallest in Speyside, concentrate the richness of the spirit. A new distillery with 36 stills, designed by Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners, was inaugurated in 2018. The Macallan Distillers Ltd is now a wholly owned subsidiary of the Edrington group, whose main shareholder is The Robertson Trust. Kirsteen Campbell, Master Whisky Maker since 2019, oversees the house style.

The Red Collection 40 Years Old NM: a rare single malt, presented in an exceptional case

A collection inspired by the colour red
Launched in 2020, The Red Collection brings together rare and distinguished single malt whiskies. Its name evokes the surname of the founder: "Reid" means "red" in Gaelic, because of his red hair. It also recalls the 1903 "Choice Old" range, whose most precious cuvées travelled in crates marked with red. Finally, it echoes the red ribbons of the oldest vintages, released in 1980 under the impetus of Allan Shiach. The 40 Years Old is one of the oldest permanent expressions of the collection and remains available in limited quantities worldwide.

Refined packaging
Each bottle is finished by hand. The year of bottling, the bottle number and the alcohol strength are handwritten on the label, and the permanent editions are signed by Kirsteen Campbell. The case is made of European oak from the same sustainably managed forests as the house's casks. Handcrafted in the United Kingdom, it is covered in soft red leather from the Scottish house Bridge of Weir Leather, adorned with herringbone embossing and a crest on the rear panels. The removable base is carved from the house's former recycled casks, making each piece unique. A work by the Spanish painter Javi Aznarez is associated with the collection.
