Description

Characteristics and tasting advice for the Tavel "Vieilles Vignes" 2025 from Tardieu Laurent

Tasting

Appearance
The wine reveals a deep, radiant salmon hue, enhanced by subtle coppery highlights.

Nose
The bouquet opens with vibrant aromas of wild strawberry, redcurrant, and blood orange. It then gains complexity with nuances of lavender, thyme, and a mineral touch reminiscent of wet stone.

Palate
The attack is lively, supported by bright acidity and flavors of raspberry, cranberry, and pomegranate. The mid-palate reveals delicate notes of fresh herbs and gentle spices such as white pepper. The finish lingers with a very refreshing mineral and saline backbone.

Food and wine pairings

This gastronomic rosé elevates grilled lamb chops with rosemary, a Niçoise salad, or a richly flavored fish soup. It also pairs beautifully with Mediterranean cuisine, mezze, or crispy-skinned salmon.

Serving and cellaring

Enjoyable today for its vibrant fruit, this Tavel "Vieilles Vignes" 2025 also has a fine structure that allows it to age in the cellar for several years, developing more complex and savory notes.

The elegance and complexity of a great rosé from the Rhône Valley

The estate

Founded in 1994 by Michel Tardieu and Dominique Laurent, the Maison Tardieu Laurent is based in Lourmarin. This négociant from the Rhône Valley stands out for its tailor-made approach, selecting the finest plots for vinification and aging. Since 2004, Michel Tardieu has been the sole owner of the estate, now supported by his children, including his son Bastien, an oenologist. The family favors old vines, organic and biodynamic practices, as well as trusted relationships with partner growers, in order to produce wines marked by elegance and freshness.

The vineyard

Located between Lirac and Châteauneuf-du-Pape, the terroir of the Tavel appellation benefits from a hot, dry Mediterranean climate. The vines, aged 40 to 50 years, thrive on a mosaic of soils composed of rolled pebbles, limestone, clay, sand, and lauzes. This geological diversity gives the grapes exceptional concentration and a strong mineral identity.

The vintage

The year 2025 began with a mild winter that helped replenish the soil’s water reserves, followed by a warm spring and early summer. Ripening accelerated from the end of July, resulting in a two-week advance compared to the usual cycle. Despite a wetter September, the sanitary condition remained excellent. Early harvesting preserved the full freshness of the berries.

Winemaking and aging

The production of Tavel "Vieilles Vignes" 2025 is based on the traditional Tavel method, involving extended maceration to extract color and structure. The wine is then aged for six months in concrete tanks, a choice that promotes gentle micro-oxygenation while preserving fruit purity and the expression of the terroir. Bottling is carried out without fining, with very light filtration.

Grape varieties

Grenache (60%), Cinsault (30%), Syrah (10%).
