A sunny, generous Blanc de Noirs Champagne from the Vallée de la Marne

The estate

Founded in 1912 by Henri Lhôpital, the Telmont House has embodied for over a century a commitment to quality and respect for the land. Located in Damery in the Vallée de la Marne, the estate covers around 36 hectares across eight crus. Acquired in 2020 by the Rémy Cointreau group, Telmont is now led by Ludovic du Plessis, with Bertrand Lhôpital heading viticulture and Brice Bezin serving as cellar master since 2024. The House stands out for its radical environmental commitment, becoming in 2026 the first Champagne House certified Regenerative Organic. Actor Leonardo DiCaprio joined the shareholders in 2022, supporting the estate’s ecological approach known as “Au nom de la Terre”.

The vineyard

Blanc de Noirs 2015 comes from different parcels in the Vallée de la Marne in Champagne, with 62% of the grapes from Damery, 22% from Fontette, 8% from Saudoy, and smaller proportions from Meurville, Cumières, and Boursault. The clay-limestone soils characteristic of this region bring both richness and freshness to the grapes. The vineyard is managed with respect for the environment, with a gradual conversion to organic and regenerative farming.

The vintage

The 2015 vintage in Champagne was exceptional, shaped by sunny, generous conditions. The year was marked by particularly high temperatures from June to August, creating moderate water stress that concentrated aromas in the berries. Timely rains at the end of August enabled optimal ripening of the grapes. This warm vintage particularly favored the expression of black grape varieties, achieving remarkable phenolic ripeness while preserving the freshness required to craft great Champagnes.

Vinification and aging

This Blanc de Noirs 2015 was vinified in stainless steel tanks to preserve the fruit’s aromatic purity. No malolactic fermentation was carried out, helping maintain lively acidity and the signature tension of the House style. Bottled in 2016 with cork stoppers, the Champagne benefited from extended aging for seven years on lees in underground cellars before being disgorged in 2023. This long maturation allowed aromatic complexity and a creamy texture to develop while maintaining freshness.
