Decanter

So fragrant on the nose, smells pure and bright and open. Cool and so charming, this more fruity with the acidity at the fore than the fleshiness of the tannins. Still, it’s not a light wine but there’s finesse with good persistence from start to finish. A really well made, good example. Pure fruit, clarity and elegance. Very Médoc. 3.7ph. Ageing 12-15 months, 30% new barrels, 20% one year, 50% amphora and steel vats.

Black currants, tobacco, and floral notes create the core of the palate and the perfume. Medium-bodied, forward, and soft in texture, the wine will offer its fruity character, with its minty-edged finish on release, and for 12-15 years more years with ease. The wine blends 62% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot, 47%, and 3% Cabernet Franc. Drink from 2028-2045. 90-92 Pts

Leather, cigar box, raspberry fruits, rustic in character, high austerity, should soften over ageing. 3.7 pH. Harvest September 3 to 23. 30% new oak.

The bouquet’s intensity doesn’t preclude complexity. Notes of red berries, bringing freshness, mingle with aromas of black berries, liquorice and pepper. Fresh and slightly creamy on the attack, the wine shows tannins with real definition, delivering well-shaped power alongside the acidic backbone. A wine that still needs to fulfil its ambitions, yet already lays down markers in a joyful and promising way.

Description

A lively and aromatic Haut-Médoc wine

The estate

With a history whose roots reach back to the 13th century, Château d'Agassac is an estate located at the gateway to the Médoc, on the Left Bank of Bordeaux. For more than 8 centuries, this property has experienced remarkable development thanks to the commitment of illustrious families (Gaillard de Gassac, Pommiers, Richier and Gasqueton). The insurance company Groupama acquired the estate in 1996, before it was taken over in 2021 by the family-owned Beautiful Life group, founded by Gérard Jicquel, who has also owned Château Fourcas Dupré (Listrac) since 2019. Château d'Agassac is renowned for wines that harmoniously combine power and balance, carried by silky tannins and a complex, elegant aromatic palette.

The vineyard

Château d'Agassac 2025 is a Haut-Médoc wine produced from a 43-hectare vineyard, one of the oldest in the Médoc. With an average age of 31 years, the vines are rooted in soils composed, depending on the plot, of gravel and sandy gravel. Firmly committed to a responsible environmental approach, Château d'Agassac has been certified Terra Vitis since 2004, as well as HVE 3.

Vinification and ageing

Ageing combines 30% new barrels and 17% one-wine barrels, complemented by 50% amphorae and stainless steel tanks. Alcohol content: 13% vol.

Blend

Château d'Agassac 2025 is the result of a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (62%), Merlot (35%) and Cabernet Franc (3%).
