Château Doisy-Védrines 2023

While sample variations give pause, one thing is certain: the palate explodes with cinnamon, apricot and honey for a rather thick yet vibrant texture, echoing sweet peach and honeyed mango on the long finish. The 150 grams per litre of residual sugar are well balanced by the 4.45 grams of acidity (3.7 pH).

Candied citrus, honeysuckle, sweet, yellow, and orange tropical fruits, and spiced honey notes create the nose and the palate here. The wine is zesty, with sweetness and a racy finish. Drink from 2027-2045.

Medium yellow-gold, silver reflections. Delicate hints of candied orange zest, cloves, and ripe peach. Deep, soft, and opulent on the palate, subtle acidity, honeyed finish, lacks a little definition.

This is superb quality, opulent, powerful, delivering on En Primeur promise, a ton of apricot, pineapple, pink grapefruit, grilled fruit. Located in Barsac but bottled under Sauternes. 9hl/ha yield.

Score: 93–95. Salt-cured preserved lemon, roasted pineapple, hazelnut, and bitter orange peel contribute to a complex nose that invites focus. A very lovely texture that is creamy without being heavy, both fresh and zesty, with notes of blood orange, roasted pineapple, and mango. The finish is almost saline, definitely mouthwatering.

A wine with real class. The liqueur reveals masterful craftsmanship and comes across as refined, subtle and balanced. Expect fine flavors of pear, pineapple and lemon. Freshness peeks through with notes of eucalyptus. Clean and persistent. Elegant rather than opulent.

Delicately aromatic and fresh, with citrus notes alongside blossom honey, almonds and dried apricots; on the palate it is dense and compact, yet remains fresh and very elegant; the fruit is supported by outstanding acidity, with excellent tension. Excellent once again.

So much freshness in this bouquet, which combines expressiveness, character and complexity. Chalky nuances weave together aromas of mirabelle plum and passion fruit, set against a backdrop of citrus zest. The dense attack highlights the wine’s substantial body. With excellent concentration, the wine is supported by a precious acidic framework, perfectly in tune with an embracing softness. A flavoursome, inviting wine that deserves a little time to open up, to showcase its many qualities even more.

Golden color. An intense, velvety nose of candied fruit. Precise on the attack, very fruity on the mid-palate, slightly liqueur-like as is often the case, the wine finishes with a good, flavorful length. Without the virtues mentioned en primeur!
