Château La Tour Carnet 2024

Heady aromatics, really floral and expressive. Succulent and sapid, this has bright acidity that really lifts the expression. The red fruit is a little high-toned but it actually works with the fine tannins, giving this a tang and fruit-forwardness that others don't have. I like it. Easy to enjoy with a joyous quality. 1% Cabernet Franc completes the blend.

63% Merlot, 33% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Petit Verdot and 1% Cabernet Franc. Cask sample. Red-fruit aromas. Broad across the palate with a point of acidity. Structured and firm, the tannins well honed. Lacking in charm but well made. (JL)

Espresso, smoke, tobacco leaves and red currants pop in the nose with little effort. The wine is medium-bodied, chewy, and already delivers its core of black cherries, walnuts, cocoa, and spice, with a savory edge. You can enjoy this in its youth for its fruity character. The wine blends 63% Merlot, 33% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Petit Verdot, and 1% Cabernet Franc. Drink from 2026-2036. 89-91 Pts

Floral aromas of old rose and red fruits create a well-balanced bouquet. The wine is fluid, mouthwatering and crisp on the palate, but acidity takes the lead.

Well teased out dark berry fruits, careful construction, wash of cedar and campfire smoke, black tea and slate, a little leafy through the mid palate but a juicy finish. Harvest 24 September to 9 October. 35 hl/ha. 60% in oak of which 50% is new. They are reducing the percentage of first wine at La Tour Carnet, in reflection of how far and fast the vineyard footprint has grown with new acquisitions.

Deep-colored wine with a fruity nose and a pleasant palate, with medium body and length. Blend: 63% Merlot, 33% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Petit Verdot, 1% Cabernet Franc. Alcohol content: 13%. Yield: 25 hl/ha.
