A subtly smoky, oaky note is swiftly followed by fruity tones; elegant opening, austere development at this stage, crisp tannins, juicy finish only slightly marked by oak. Closed at this stage, but that’s normal.

A restrained style, but with a tasty core of juicy plum and red currant fruit that melds with light mulling spice, black tea and sanguine notes. There's a dusting of cedar on the finish. Drink now through 2028. 12,500 cases made.

Ripe, full and explosive with a big tannic frame. Expressive dark fruit aromas and flavor. Broad palate, tannins present but finely etched. Persistent.

Blackberry, blueberry and orange-peel aromas follow through to a full body with a solid core of fruit and a fresh, tangy finish. The hazelnut and walnut undertones add to the complexity. Drink in 2021 and onwards.

The 2016 Poujeaux has turned out beautifully. Ripe, generous and deeply layered, the 2016 has so much to offer. A varietal Cabernet Sauvignon note gives the dark red/purplish berry fruit an attractive floral/savory upper register that adds striking nuance as well as character. This is a superb vintage for Poujeaux.

Kicking off with a touch of oak, the deeply colored wine offers black raspberries, licorice, smoke, and tobacco on the nose. Full-bodied with ripe, soft tannins and plenty of juicy fruit on the finish.

Deep dark ruby, opaque core, discreet brightening on the rim. Fresh blackberry conserve, a pleasant touch of cassis and delicate orange zest. Complex and substantial, fine dark berry conserve, delicate tannins, freshly structured with a citrusy, mineral finish also marked by mocha and juicy cherry. Already showing some maturity, but it has some ageing potential.

Youthful and fresh nose offering red fruit like raspberry, plum, red currant, a mild spiciness with fine oak and floral hints. The palate is dense but rounded with grainy tannin, fresh red fruit and a long vigorous finish. Kind of Burgundian texture with lovely purity and freshness.

An outstanding Moulis made with consulting help from Stéphane Derenoncourt, the 2016 Château Poujeaux offers up a rock star, medium to full-bodied, layered profile as well as pretty notes of ripe black fruits, graphite, violets, and background oak. Give this sleeper 2-3 years of bottle age and it will impress for a decade or more.

The Poujeaux 2016 is deep garnet in color. It waltzes out with compelling scents of Morello cherries, blackberry preserves, and fruit cake, followed by hints of Indian spices, potpourri, and chocolate mint. The elegant, medium-bodied palate is soft and refreshing, delivering a fragrant finish.

The most successful of the recent era, with beautiful fruit, a generous texture, lovely length, a very harmonious character, and a value for money worth considering!

The 2016 shows lovely balance, noble tannins and a gentle persistence. It gains depth over time and fills out on the palate.

Deep purple with violet highlights. Poujeaux’s bouquet is youthful, complex, and needs a bit of air to fully reveal itself. Plenty of harmony thanks to well-integrated oak, freshness, and black berries. On the palate, the wine has breadth, body, and perfect balance. The tannins are powerful, well-integrated, and ensure a long life for Poujeaux. Patience will be required!

The nose is fruity, offering a touch of power and fine concentration. The wine benefits from decanting. It reveals notes of fleshy raspberry, fleshy strawberry and, more subtly, a racy minerality and blackcurrant, with hints of graphite, flowers (cornflower), licorice, toasted nuances and a very discreet touch of pepper. The palate is mineral, racy, and offers good definition, fine tension, a mineral backbone, freshness, and solid structure. On the palate, this wine expresses notes of ripe raspberry and ripe cherry, and more subtly blackcurrant, joined by a touch of fresh/crunchy purple plum, floral nuances, fine hints of racy minerality/graphite, discreet touches of licorice, and a very discreet hint of vanilla. The tannins are well handled. Good length.

The best ever made. Dark, intense color with slight evolution. Moderately aromatic nose with ripe, spicy fruit. A hint of dry herbs. Fairly rich on the attack and precise mid-palate, the wine unfolds silky and even fragrant. Very tactile, it glides across the palate and finishes long, sapid, a touch austere but particularly flavorful. Blend: 50% cabernet sauvignon, 40% merlot, 5% cabernet franc, and 5% petit verdot.
