Colour

Food and Wine Pairing

This white wine pairs perfectly with white-fleshed fish such as sole or halibut, served with a butter and citrus sauce, or with oysters. It also goes very well with roast poultry in cream sauce, dishes with nut-based sauces, and matured cheeses such as Comté.

The Minerality and Elegance of a White Burgundy Wine

The Estate

Founded in the eleventh century, the Domaine du Château de Meursault is a historic figure of Burgundy. Located in the heart of the Côte de Beaune, in France, the estate spans a vineyard of 67 hectares, now fully certified organic. Since its acquisition in 2012, the current owner, Olivier Halley, has driven a dynamic of modernisation while preserving the age-old heritage of the estate. Under the technical direction of Stéphane Follin-Arbelet, the estate is committed to producing wines that faithfully reflect the diversity and richness of its terroirs.

The Vineyard

This wine from Burgundy comes from an enclosed eight-hectare plot, located directly within the estate's park. The vines, grown organically, benefit from an eastern exposure and thrive at an altitude ranging from 250 to 280 metres. The soils consist of a clay-limestone mix scattered with gravel, providing ideal conditions for the mineral expression of the grape variety.

The Vintage

The year 2022 began with a mild autumn and winter, encouraging an early awakening of the vines. Spring and summer were marked by rising temperatures, with a heatwave between early June and early July. In mid-August, welcome rainfall allowed the berries to reach an optimal balance between sugar accumulation and acidity retention. Harvest took place under favourable conditions between late August and early September, yielding very healthy fruit.

Winemaking and Aging

After rigorous manual sorting, the grapes are pressed and then settled. Alcoholic fermentation takes place in oak barrels for ten to fifteen days, followed by malolactic fermentation in the same vessels. The Bourgogne "Clos du Château" 2022 is aged for an average of fifteen months in French oak barrels, 15 to 35% of which are new, with lees stirring carried out as needed. Optional fining and filtration precede bottling.
